Dr. Annu Aggarwal, a prominent consultant neurologist and specialist in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, who is currently affiliated with the esteemed Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai, India. Dr. Aggarwal is the driving force behind the Memory Clinic at Kokilaben Hospital, where she is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for patients struggling with cognitive disorders.

Dr. Aggarwal’s journey in medicine began with her MBBS from LTM Medical College, Mumbai, followed by a postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine from TN Medical College. Her early career included vital experience as an Intensive Care Unit Associate at Hinduja Hospital, where she developed a strong foundation in critical care. She then transitioned to Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, where she specialized in neurology and earned the prestigious Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in Neurology from the National Board of Examinations in New Delhi.

 

During her postdoctoral fellowship at Jaslok Hospital, Dr. Aggarwal made significant strides in understanding Wilson’s disease, developing innovative diagnostic and treatment paradigms, including a clinical scale to assess disease progression and treatment efficacy. Her research extended to neurological diseases resulting from liver failure and iron deposition in the brain, as well as an epidemiological study on Parkinson’s disease among the Parsi community in Mumbai.

In recognition of her expertise, Dr. Aggarwal pursued further training in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, where she engaged in groundbreaking research on complex issues such as hallucinations in Parkinson’s disease and sleep-related disorders. This international experience enriched her understanding and approach to managing cognitive impairments associated with neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Aggarwal’s contributions to the field have been widely recognized, earning her several awards, including the Second Best Paper Award at the APICON Conference 2017 and the Best Paper Award at the Bombay Neurosciences Association meet. Her research has garnered international acclaim, highlighted at the Movement Disorders Society Congress and the International Dystonia Symposium.

With her recent accolade of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the UK (MRCP), Dr. Aggarwal continues to solidify her role as a leading figure in neurology, contributing to both clinical practice and academic research. Her commitment to advancing the understanding of cognitive and behavioral neurology is evident in her numerous publications and presentations, which have had a profound impact on the global neurology community.
